Peter Hynes MVB MRCVS Cert Equine Sports Medicine (UCD)
Peter grew up in Limerick, Ireland and has been around horses from an early age. He qualified from vet school at University College Dublin in Ireland and completed several equine externships including those at Rood and Riddie in Kentucky. USA and Dubai Equine Hospital in the United Arab Emirates. After qualifying he went on to work for Ridgeway Veterinary Group in Lambourn before moving to Australia to work at Randwick Equine Hospital, gaining a wide range of experience in the fields of internal medicine, surgery and lameness. Upon returning from Australia, Peter worked briefly for another practice in Yorkshire before setting up Yorkshire Equine Practice, and has now gained the Advanced Certificate in Equine Sports Medicine through UCD.
Peter lives in Rufforth with his wife Jocelyn, who is also a veterinary surgeon, and their three young children. When his work and young family aren’t occupying his time Peter enjoys following the racing.
Sarah Woods MRCVS
Sarah, originally from Yorkshire, graduated from Edinburgh University in 2011. After a short stint in small animal practice she travelled to Sydney to complete an internship at Randwick Equine Centre. Since returning to the UK she has spent 3 years working in equine practice in the south-east. Sarah is thrilled to be back in Yorkshire and looking forward to further developing her interests in lameness, poor performance and sports medicine.
Away from work Sarah enjoys competing in triathlons and is a budding photographer.
Sarah Mosley BVSc MRCVs.
Sarah is from North Yorkshire and spent most of her youth competing horses.
She trained at Bristol University, completed an externship at Rossdales Equine Hospital in Newmarket and spent time with in house racing vets in Middleham and at an Equine Practice in County Kildare, Ireland. After graduating in 2013 she worked at a mixed practice in Wales for 2 and a half years before returning to Yorkshire. She then worked at an equine and small animal vets in the area before joining the team in April ’17 to pursue her passion for performance horse work. She is currently studying for an Advanced Certificate in Equine Practice and has developed a keen interest in orthopaedic and respiratory cases.
Currently, in her spare time, Sarah can be found doing the odd triathlon and being out and about with her Jack Russel ‘Dotty’.
Katie Banks J-SQP
Katie joined the Yorkshire Equine Practice in May 2012 and is normally found in the office. Katie is the point of contact for our racing clients, handling the invoicing and associated administrative tasks. In addition she carries out a wide range of general nursing duties both out on visits and back in the Practice Office. Katie has over 15 years experience in veterinary practice, including working at a large equine clinic.
Katie spends her time outside of work with her dog Lottie.
Debi joined the Yorkshire Equine Practice in August 2012 and is based in the Practice Office.
Outside of work Debi has a keen interest in showing her collection of Appaloosa horses.
Katie and Debi are invaluable assets to Yorkshire Equine Practice as they keep the team organised and everything running smoothly.
Pip joined the team at Yorkshire Equine Practice in July 2015 as Peter’s assistant. Pip is based in the car with Peter assisting him with visits to yards.
Outside of work Pip tends to be found on a horse or at the races, assisting her mother with their small string of racehorses.
