Mariana Lapao-1.jpeg

Mariana Lapão MRCVS

Mariana joined Yorkshire Equine Practice Ltd in April 2022. Originally from Portugal, Mariana graduated in 2012 from Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon and worked initially in mixed practice. Mariana then spent 3 years in Bahrain as a resident stud veterinarian at Al Rashediah Stud working with show Arabians. She then moved to the UAE to work as a junior veterinarian in Al W’rsan, an Arabian racing stud, focusing on stud work and management of youngsters from birth to training.

Here she took interest in racing work, performance and orthopaedics. With that in mind, she spent the following months seeing practice in racing and pre-training yards in England and Ireland, before spending the following 2 and half years in Newmarket with Rossdales as a racing intern, between the Diagnostic Centre and the Racing team in town.

Mariana has growing interest in orthopaedics, poor performance, sports and racing practice. She’s an FEI Endurance veterinarian and working to become an ARVS Racecourse Veterinary Surgeon. When Mariana is not working she enjoys backpacking, hiking, scuba diving and anything outdoors.

Sarah is thrilled to be back in Yorkshire and looking forward to further developing her interests in lameness, poor performance and sports medicine.

Away from work Sarah enjoys competing in triathlons and is a budding photographer.

Anna Hogarth BVM&S MRCVS

Anna grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland but spent the majority of her spare time surrounded by horses at her Grandad’s National Hunt Yard in North Yorkshire. At university, she completed numerous equine placements in Newmarket and Yorkshire, including here at YEP, and carried out a clinical research project on the effects of soft palate cauterisations on racing performance. She graduated with distinction from The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, in Edinburgh, in Summer 2023 and made the move to North Yorkshire to pursue her career as an equine vet. She has a keen interest in racing work and particularly enjoys orthopaedic and airway investigations.
